Dr. Wilson specializes in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) for individuals and families. CBT is an empirically-based approach to treating many of the common issues for which clients seek therapy, such as anxiety and depression.

Parenting Coordination & Coparenting
Dr. Wilson is trained as a Parenting Coordinator, and is frequently appointed by the Court to serve in this role to assist families in the midst of divorce and coparenting conflict. She also conducts coparenting counseling/coaching, to help divorced and divorcing parents develop a healthier relationship and coparent their children more effectively and harmoniously.
As a parenting coach, Dr. Wilson works with parents to become more effective in their parenting, and to develop a more fruitful coparenting alliance with their child's other parent. Dr. Wilson also provides family therapy to families involved in litigation, such as those seeking reunification services as a result of parent-child contact problems, estrangement, or alienation. All of Dr. Wilson's work in this area is focused on improving the lives of children and families through creating and maintaining healthier family relationships.

Mediation & Consulting
Dr. Wilson is trained in divorce mediation, and assists divorcing families in resolving their disputes and making decisions in the best interests of their children. By working collaboratively to develop a parenting plan and settle other marital matters, parents are able to navigate the waters of separation and divorce more amicably. As mediation is not intended to replace legal representation, Dr. WIison often works closely with clients' attorneys to settle disputes in a non-adversarial environment, allowing for a smoother process even when clients are represented by counsel.
Dr. Wilson also serves as a consultant to attorneys, and as an expert witness in family and civil law.

About Dr. Wilson
Dr. Amy Wilson is a clinical and forensic psychologist who came to Charlottesville after many years of practice in Atlanta. She received her B.A. with distinction from the University of Virginia, and her Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. She completed her residency training at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
Dr. Wilson specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and has a general practice assisting clients with a wide array of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, and adjustment disorders. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Wilson has considerable training and experience in forensic psychology, specifically in the area of family law. She previously conducted custody evaluations and now serves as a court-appointed Parenting Coordinator, provides parenting and co-parenting coaching, conducts reunification work with court-involved families, and provides treatment for clients involved in litigation. Dr. Wilson is also trained in divorce mediation, and provides consulting services and expert witness testimony for both family and civil law.
